if tomorrow was my birthday…

I just found this sweet little “Curious Tuesday” thing on Gala Darling’s blog and thought it would be fun to repost it here. It’s kind of like a little survey, and you and I both know that no one who ever had a MySpace or Livejournal account can ever seriously reject doing a survey. Here are my answers to her questions – feel free to post yours in the comments, if you feel like it!

birthday

1. If it was your birthday tomorrow, what would be on your wishlist?

How cute, I just started a wishlist yesterday! For starters, I’d like a bicycle. I’d also like this adorable personalized stamp I recently found on Etsy. It would also be fabulous to paint and decorate my entire apartment (I’d settle for a Craigslist giftcard, if only they existed). I wouldn’t mind it if you threw in a few lilac and lemon verbena candles, a delivery of fresh flowers every week of the year, aaaand maybe a new phone since mine is broken.

2. Do you look after your nails? Do you paint them? If so, do you have a colour that you keep returning to again & again?

I was a notoriously bad nail biter until a few years ago. Most of the time, I can restrain myself, but I have a wicked bad habit of picking off my nail polish when I paint them myself. The only way I’ve found to combat this filth is by getting professional manicures – but I rarely do that because I’m such a frugal chick. I’m gonna have to start working that into my budget! As far as color is concerned, I try to keep it classy. I am not too into bright, loud colors and always find myself falling back on soft, light pinks, like OPI’s Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs.

3. What star sign are you, & do you think it is accurate?

I’m a Virgo, and I absolutely think it’s accurate! I’m not completely sold on the concept of astrology, but I read my horoscope from time to time and the characteristics of Virgos are just too similar to ignore. I am a list-making, color-coding, anxiety-addicted, analytical control freak if I ever knew one.

4. What is something you have recently learned to appreciate?

Living in LA. I am not shy about disliking this city, but it’s where I live and I suppose I’ve got to make the most of it as long as I’m here, since I don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. In the spirit of sucking it up and dealing with it, we’ve been taking a lot more beach trips and making an effort to get out and explore this area. Turns out there is much more to do when you venture outside of the gaudy palm-tree lined streets of LA. You’ve got everything – hiking, camping, vineyards, snowboarding, beaching. It’s lovely.

5. What is your favourite city in the world, & why?

I feel like I’m not allowed to answer this, because I haven’t yet been there. The Northern Virginia town I am from is pretty awesome, because of the seasons, the greenery, the history and of course, the people. But I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite. I really enjoy New York, though living there may be tiresome after a long stretch. My ideal city is some place near a heavy urban area, but far enough away where the stores have parking lots, you can see the stars at night and don’t hear ambulances round the clock. Oh, and there must be thunderstorms.
